Learning About Our Toddler Program
Welcome! We are delighted to be able to offer your family a program for toddlers as a component of CrossRoad’s 31 year ministry to the communities of the South Bay.
Our Purpose & Goals
- We believe your child is special, God loves each one.
- We are to be evidence for God’s love through the tender care we provide to each child.
- We are Christian teachers who provide the foundation of our child-centered and loving atmosphere.
- We provide care for the young child beginning at 18 months of age and beyond.
- We have a comfortable, bright spacious area, with natural light, divided spaces and pleasant aesthetics.
- We have provided equipment for a child, such as sinks, clothing, books and play materials placed at child level allowing an “I can do it”, sense of autonomy to develop.
Our Days/Hours of Operation
- The Center operates Monday through Friday, opening at 6:30 AM and closes at 6:00 PM.
- Two programs are offered, 30+ hrs weekly or -30 hrs weekly for children 18 – 30 months.
- A child attending half day is to be picked up by 12:15 PM.
- A child enrolled full day may be picked up anytime after 2:30 PM up to 6:00 PM.
Our Enrollment Policies
- A child may be enrolled once he/she is 18 months of age and is no older than 30 months.
- Each child must have an Application for Enrollment & Tuition Policies Enrollment Agreement
- Each child must have an up to date immunization record prior to enrollment
- Each child must have a physician report signed by a physician within 30 days of enrollment
- Additional forms will be provided at the time of registration to be returned prior to enrollment:
-Physician’s Report, Family/Social Health History, Parent Rights & Personal Rights
-Our program is designed to meet the needs of each child; we do not discriminate on the basis of sex, religion, or ethnicity.
Our Food Service
Breakfast, snacks & fresh fruits are prepared on-site. Lunch, main and side dishes are prepared on-site.
- A morning snack is served at 10:00 AM- fresh fruit – served in a safe manner for the toddlers.
- An afternoon snack is served between 2:30 and 3:00 pm. This snack is a more likely to be crackers, wafers, pretzels, yogurt, served with juice or milk.
- A monthly menu is posted and available for parents to review.
Our Supplementary Service
- Breakfast is served for an additional fee, between 7:15 and 7:45 each morning. Account is billed $2.00 daily or $40.00 maximum per month.
Our Field Trips
- Our program has incorporated several on-site experiences in lieu of transporting and chaperoning children in an off-site field trip. Events may include: petting zoo, aquarium touch tanks, reptile & insect experience, fire truck visit, etc.
Our Care and Supervision
- Once a child is received by the teacher, the parent shall sign the child into the center.
- Person who removes your child from the center shall sign the child out.
- A ratio of six children to each teacher shall be maintained in the toddler program
- Toddler program operates in areas physically separate from older children, including outdoors.
- Comfortable clothing provides a child the security they need to know its “OK” to get dirty.
Our Diaper Changing and Toilet Training
- Parent is responsible for providing diapers, wipes and creams you wish used on your child.
- A supply of at least 24 diapers and a box of wipes shall be available for each child
- The staff shall follow diaper safety guidelines: hand washing before and after, plastic gloves, changing table paper use, and disinfecting the changing area after each change.
- A child in diapers shall be changed approximately every two hours or immediately if there has been a bowel movement.
- Parent s and staff will work together in the decision of when a child is ready for potty training. The child needs to shows signs of consistent readiness prior to beginning the process.
Our Activities /Napping
- A quiet area is provided for nap time.
- A cot and sheet is provided to each child, which shall be washed weekly or when soiled or wet.
- Parent shall provide a blanket which shall be taken home weekly and washed
Our Daily Schedule
Through the use of a daily schedule the children come to know what to expect and will be more cooperative when transitions occur. A sample of the daily schedule is as follows:
- 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM Center Opens – Learning Centers with simple play materials
- 7:15AM – 7:45 PM Breakfast Served – Fee charged
- 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM Diaper Changing/Toileting & Indoor and Outdoor Play Experiences
- 10:00 AM – 10:15 AM Morning Snack
- 10:30 Diaper Changing /Toileting
- 10:15AM -11:30 AM Indoor and Outdoor Play, Interest Centers
- 11:45 PM – 12:15 PM Lunch
- 12:15 Diaper Changing/ Toileting
- 12:15 PM – 2:30 PM Transition to Nap/Rest
- 2:30 Diaper Changing /Toileting
- 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM Afternoon Snack
- 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM Indoor and Outdoor Play Experiences
- 4:30 PM Diaper Changing/Toileting
- 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM Centers Open with simple play materials
- 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM Story time- waiting for parents to come.
Our Holidays and Closures
To allow families to spend time together we are closed on the following days: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, August last two days of the month, Labor Day and Staff In-Service mid October, Thanksgiving and the Friday after, Christmas Day through New Year’s Day.
Our Emergency Procedures
- Fire drills and Earthquake drills are conducted on a regular basis with the classes.
- Parents will be contacted if the school is closed due to an emergency and children must be picked-up.
- The staff is trained in Infant/Child/Adult CPR and First Aid and recertified annually.
